A Legacy of Excellence: ITI Jogindernagar's Origins
Foundational Years
Govt. ITI Jogindernagar commenced in 2000, offering initial trades in COPA, Plumber with sanctioned intake 36.
Trade Expansion:
  • 2001: Introduced Dress Making and Embroidery & Needle Work.
  • August 2006: Added 2nd Shift for Dress Making and Embroidery & Needle Work under IMC.
  • August 2008: Introduced Cutting & Sewing and Hair & Skin Care trades.
  • 2008: Selected for upgradation under the PPP mode with ₹2.50 crore funding from the World Bank.
  • August 2009: Started 2nd Shift of COPA trade and two shifts for Fitter and Electrician trades.
  • 2010: Added the 3rd Shift of Electrician trade.
  • August 2012: Started two shifts of Motor Mechanic Vehicle trade under IMC/PPP mode.
  • August 2013: Added the third shift of the Motor Mechanic Vehicle trade.
  • 2014: Introduced the third shift of the Fitter trade.
  • 2015: Started the second shift of the Plumber trade.
At present we have total intake capacity of 412 trainees in 9 trades (19 shifts).
Relocation & Further Expansion:
  • 2012: Relocated to Dohag, 3 km from Joginder Nagar Bus Stand on Sainthal Road.
The institute expanded its footprint, acquiring 11-10-07 Bighas land and construct the whole infrastructure like Two bulidings (Administrative Block & Workshop Block), play grounds etc.

Introducing New Trades
Govt. ITI Jogindernagar has introduced new trades like Electrician, Cosmetology, Fitter, MMV, Dress Making, Sewing Technology, Surface Ornamentation Techniques (Embroidary) to align with industry needs in the year 2008-2012.

Enhancing Capacity
The sanctioned intake has been significantly increased from 36 to 412, accommodating a larger number of trainees. The institute has also expanded its staff, with a focus on expertise in various fields.

Investing in Infrastructure
The institute has undertaken extensive building constructions, adding its own building (Administrative Block & Workshop Block), playgrounds and creating a modern learning environment.

IMC/PPP Mode
The Institute Management Committee (IMC) of ITI Jogindernagar has been registered under the HP Societies Registration Act 2006 on 14th July 2008. This society received an interest free loan of Rs. 2.50 Crore under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme "Up-gradation of 1396 Govt ITIs through Public Private Partenship(PPP Mode)" in the year 2008. After implemetation of this scheme, institute achieved significant milestones i.e. under this scheme, we started 07 new trades including 13 shifts and upgraded the existing infrastructure and also construct a Workshop Block under IMC/PPP Mode of an amount Rs. 1 Crore.

STRIVE Scheme
The STRIVE scheme, with its ₹91.22 lakh contribution, has positively impacted the institute by increasing Female Enrollment, Result, Total Intake Capacity, OJT( On-Job Training). The institute has seen a notable rise in these areas which are listed in seperate presentation.

The Querterly Parent-Teacher meeting for each trade is being organized separately in the institute, along with a common annual meeting with the Principal for the parents of all trades.

NAPS
ITI Jogindernagar actively participates in the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS).

Apprenticeship Engagement
In the year 2000, the institute was registered on the apprenticeship portal under NAPS. The institute has engaged 08 apprentices in various sectors, providing them with valuable training opportunities. A total of 05 trainees have successfully completed their apprenticeship training (COPA, Plumber), while 03 trainees (Cosmetology, Fitter, and Electrician) are currently undergoing their apprenticeship training.

Challenges
  • Limited Participation: Government establishments show low engagement, possibly due to budget constraints.
  • Small Local Industries: Most nearby establishments have <30 employees, making NAPS non-mandatory.
  • Unclear Career Path: Post-training opportunities are not visibly strong, reducing candidate interest.
  • Staff Shortage: ITI lacks sufficient manpower to effectively manage the scheme.

The institute will establish a residential Nal Jal Mitra scheme to train individuals in water management practices.
